{ PERSONAL STYLE } DRESSING UP THE MENSWEAR SWEATER

{ Club Monaco coat / Uniqlo men's sweater / Zara skirt (old, similar) / Aldo pumps (sold out, similar) / Lulu Frost necklace (similar) / vintage clutch / Ray-Ban sunglasses }

Hey it's me again! Christmas is on Sunday so you can bet I am really in the holiday spirit these days. As we speak I'm hanging out with my family in snowy, freezing Sun Valley—so bare legs (and pumps!) are out of the question. However—that doesn't mean you can't benefit from this piecemeal little outfit I was swanning around Greenwich Village in recently. Let's dive in, shall we?

{ Julie Vos ring, Miansai cuff and various vintage pieces }

I suppose it's not very helpful if you're hoping to "get the look," but most of my favorite jewelry—the stuff I wear everyday—is either vintage or from a roadside market stand in the middle of New Mexico. Though, I love how it all looks mixed with contemporary pieces like my Miansai hook cuff, In God We Trust monogrammed bangle and Julie Vos cocktail ring.

My advice? Ask your mom to let you take a peek in the safety deposit box or let you rifle through her jewelry box for little things she doesn't wear anymore. Pester your aunts and grandmothers for the same. Since I can't afford to buy it for myself, hand-me-downs are key! As much as I love my costume jewelry, it's the good stuff—the real metals and stones—that you can pile on and leave on, basically forever.

I've also recently started carrying this tiny vintage beaded bag that used to belong to my grandmother again. It's so little and feminine and makes a great finishing touch for festive occasions like holiday parties. Hit up your local vintage and consignment shops to find something similar!

I won't rehash the details of my love for men's sweaters again—you can read about my favorite borrowed-from-the-boys pieces here. I just wanted to drop in and let you know that yes, they're great for wearing with skinny jeans and leggings when you want to be comfortable and cozy, but they're also easy to dress up! I tucked the front of this Uniqlo sweater into a stretchy pencil skirt from Zara, threw on these pumps, added a necklace and voila—I'm festive and dressy and still, yes, cozy.
