{ PERSONAL STYLE } WHISKEY WILL DO...

{ Bridge & Burn t-shirt (c/o) / Loma London cardigan (c/o) / Forever 21 faux fur stole (sold out, similar) / Paige Denim flare jeans / Vince ankle boots (sold out, similar) / Celine sunnies }

Wearing jeans and a t-shirt takes on a whole new meaning when you add a flare silhouette into the mix. Suddenly there are heels involved and you're feeling anything but casual. I love that such a simple switch-up completely changes something you might sleep in to something you can wear out to dinner.

This outfit is basically feels like I put all of my current favorite things—faux fur, cashmere, black flare jeans, red lipstick and chill t-shirts—put them in a blender and hit purée. I feel a little bit comfortable and a little bit fancy, and really there's no place I'd rather be.

Let's have a moment for this t-shirt, can we? My friend Melody recently turned me onto the Portland, OR based brand Bridge & Burn (full disclosure: she does their PR), and sent me a few of their pieces to try. I instantly fell for the fit, super soft heathered fabric and obviously the slogan of this tee. It's currently sold out, but they have a bunch of others that are equally awesome.

*In case you were curious, all the jewelry I'm wearing is vintage. The necklace is a hodge-podge of things stolen from my mom and given to be by her friend Ann, who was a KKG (like me) in college. It's a tiny pinky ring with our greek letters on it, a gold key and a coin medallion; all strung on an Anne Klein chain from the 80s. The rings are all heirlooms from my mom and aunt—the most recent addition (and my current favorite) is the pinky signet ring, which is my mom's from her high school graduation. (If you're into these kinds of jewels, Shopbop has tons of dainty chains.)

So the story with this Forever 21 stole is that my roommate came home with it a couple of weeks ago and I kept complimenting it every time she put it on. Low and behold she came home with one for me a few days later. Needless to say, I've been throwing it on over just about everything these days, including my Club Monaco 'Daylina' coat and my Schott leather jacket. It's sold out online, but Ann Taylor has a similar one in navy that's seriously on sale right now... As does LOFT.

On an ending note, I'm kind of loving the return of the cardigan. I've been sort of against it for a while, always preferring a pullover crewneck. But with elongated, oversized and well-designed new styles coming out (like the above cozy number from Loma London), the cardigan is becoming a much more vital part of my cold weather wardrobe. Add it to the purée (and shop more of them, here)!
