As we speak, I'm flying the friendly skies, en route to San Francisco. My high school prom date and darling friend is getting married in Napa this weekend, so I decided to travel west a few days early to jazz around the bay area and visit a few friends. I haven't been to the city since the months just before I moved to New York—and I'm anxious to explore it with fresh eyes. (This was in my blog's early days, and you can check out my ultra-newbie post of outfits here, and have a good chuckle.)

As a newly non-20-something, I've been trying to step up my travel style. I've spent enough time on trains to Montauk and bus rides to Philadelphia to realize that one does not need to travel in leggings to be comfortable. In fact, I can manage a six-hour plane ride in high-waisted jeans just the same way I can do so sitting at my desk all day, provided I've got easy sneakers I can slip on and off at security and a pashmina to wrap up in!

My favorite NY hat is unfortunately out of stock, but you can get a similar look (with an even more New York-y loyalty) from the Yankees. I like to have a hat with me when I fly in case the dry airplane conditions leave me with an unfortunate 'do. (Which is most of the time, let's be honest...)

This Cuyana weekender bag is one you've seen before—I included it in my gift guide last week. It's crazy-roomy, and unlike the weekend bag I had before, it has a helpful shoulder strap for when I pack way too many pairs of shoes (or ski gear this winter). If you've got a traveler on your holiday shopping list this year, spring for this canvas-and-leather bag in one of the three colors, and don't forget to get it monogramed!

During a normal New York winter, this Barbour coat would have long been retired to make way for my heavier, warmer coats. But the past few weeks have been positively balmy, so I've been able to extend the wear of this thin-but-warm waxed jacket. It layers perfectly over my new favorite sweater, this cable knit crew from the men's section at Uniqlo (which is currently on sale for just $29).

For updates from San Fransisco and Napa, be sure you're following me on Instagram. From there I'll be heading to Idaho for the holidays, so prepare yourself for plenty of #snowgrams. (Which is a thing that I just made up, maybe.) Adios NYC and your sidewalk Christmas trees, see you in 2016!
