{ PERSONAL STYLE } APPLE PICKING IN THE HUDSON VALLEY...

Amanda, Megan and I went upstate this weekend to enjoy some of those fall colors that the Hudson Valley is so famous for. We stopped first at Fishkill Farms to pick some apples (and drink cider and eat fresh donuts, tbh) and then drove up to Minnewaska State Park Preserve for a leisurely hike through the absolutely stunning foliage and palisade cliffs.

Now, you may recall that last season I made a bit of a statement about what a silly thing it is to take dressing for apple picking too seriously. I tried to find the happy medium between on-theme and not over-the-top. Did I succeed?

{ Madewell sweater, old (similar) / LOFT tank, old (similar) / BDG skinny jeans / Clarks boots, old (love these) / vintage scarf / Ray-Ban 'Clubmaster' shades }

I might not be wearing plaid and a down vest and a wide-brim hat—but I'm not above having a #doingitforthephoto photo. (And for the record, I love and own all of those things I mentioned above.) What started as a photo moment on this ladder ended up being a fruitful effort (sorry)—I found some huge and delicious apples high up in that tree.

These boots are in that "oldie but goodie" category for me, but their simplistic, traditional design has made them a fall standby for me every year. They're not quite over-the-knee boots, but they're a bit taller than knee-high, too. Currently on my must-have list? A black pair. Like, STAT.
