{ STYLING NOTES } WHAT I WORE TO THE US OPEN...

I was lucky enough to attend the U.S. Open this week thanks to my cousin, and we had an awesome day wandering the grounds, drinking wildly overpriced prosecco and watching a few of the women's singles semi-final matches.

As per the usual with the Open, sitting in the exposed stands was something akin to hanging out on the surface of the sun. Don't tell anyone, but we managed to slip into a shaded section and stay relatively cool with the aid of the faux tennis racket paper fans they handed out at the entrance. Another highlight? Sitting in the viewing gallery to watch Serena Williams practice her serve—the morning after she beat her sister Venus on the blue court.

If you're #blessed enough to be attending the final days of the Open this weekend, dress light. Dress like you're going to the WASP-iest beach on earth. Wear a hat. Wear sunscreen. Drink water. But also—splurge on a fancy drink because tennis is best enjoyed while nearly spilling prosecco all over yourself as you vigorously fan your face and make polite "ooh" and "ahh" noises with each point.

While on a mission to find my cousin a lightweight hat to wear the next day, I inadvertently found myself the perfect little late summer / early fall dress at Old Navy—for just $18. The mock neck and cut-in shoulders are chic and a little sporty, while the A-line skirt is pretty and feminine. To stay on theme, I wore it with my favorite Stan Smith sneakers my own lightweight Panama hat (found in the spring at Forever 21). I polished off my look with a sort of Americana nod—my red Elizabeth and James bucket bag (an older version of this) and Persol shades.
