{ STYLING NOTES } THE WHITE EDIT...

I know it's not entirely feasible, but in a perfect world, my entire wardrobe from June to September would be white. Just white—perhaps with a few accents of blue. I love how it looks when a tan starts to develop (duh) but I also love how clean and cool white pieces look worn from head-to-toe, layer upon layer.

As a late-20-something it's not really practical to invest in an arsenal of white dresses (as much as I want to) because you can't wear them to most occasions that you have to dress up—weddings, engagement parties, bridal showers, etc. Instead, I rely on a men's white button up as my only coverup at the beach and an inappropriate amount of white silk tops to wear almost everyday. I don't want to reinvent the wheel this summer—but I'm trying to think beyond the button down...

This year I'm craving a mix I'm calling "clean bohemian"—simple, a little tomboyish and very breezy. I got a little giddy from all the warm weather this week, and went ahead and bought myself a pair of white Soludos 'Dali' slip-ons as well as the Birkenstock 'Arizona' in white. Working my way from the feat up, I also have my eye on the most perfect off-white boyfriend blazer from Banana Republic and Equipment's breezy, short-sleeve 'Kiera' blouse. (All will go splendidly with that straw panama hat I bought last month...)

Also in the mix and on my mind is an updated Breton stripe tee (J. Crew does them quite well), the perfect silk tank from Tibi to wear with mini skirts for summer nights out, and a blousy tunic-dress to wear over swimsuits at the beach.

Oh and—I know it's not real to have one in my apartment, but—Dot & Bo makes a gorgeous crochet hammock that costs less than $50. I may not make it to a palm tree-laden beach this season, but find me a couple trees in Central Park and I'll make it work.
