{street style} "It doesn't make gods, it makes monsters."

TAKE MY PICTURE from GARAGE Magazine on Vimeo.

I hadn't actually heard of GARAGE magazine until their most recent, gigantic issue plopped down on my desk at IFB last month. With cover art by Cindy Sherman and content that strays far from your typical editorial (in such a good way), it's more of a fashion-tinted art explosion, with great reads and truly refreshing visuals.

A video crew from Garage traipsed around fashion weeks from New York to Paris to try and get a read on the current culture of street style photography. What they found, through interviews and observation was a disparity between editors and bloggers, and a general weariness for the whole damn thing. (Circus of Fashion, anyone?)

It's been asked again and again, and fashion week is pretty much in everyone's rear-view mirror by now but I think it's still worth discussing - given how well-done this video is: Has street style photography jumped the shark?

  1. Tim Blanks bored attitude about the ongoing "phenomenon" was both amusing and downputting. But his word does carry a lot of weight.

I can't decide what I think about it all. Though I know I would get very annoyed with that many people crowding me and yelling.

Thanks for posting this! I enjoyed it immensely :)
