MID-WEEK MUSIC MOMENT: MARIAH CAREY

Today is Mariah Carey's birthday, so I felt like it was only appropriate to honor her with this most coveted MWMM spot. It doesn't really matter how old she's turning (43) but, it does matter that if you're around my age, you grew up with Mariah, from the innocent-ish but still very come-hither appeal of her Emotions days to, well, Nick Cannon.

Today I want to pay homage to the Mariah I like best, the Mariah of the years between 1990 and 1999. You know what I'm talking about. Vision of Love. Dream Lover. Fantasy. Heartbreaker. And, let us not forget, perhaps one of the greatest songs, ever, Always Be My Baby. When I was in fifth grade, I used to sit in my backyard with my discman and listen to the Daydream album over and over (and over), thinking about my 11 year old crushes with bowl cuts. To this day that whole album practically floors me with nostalgia.

And so, on her special day, let's all have a nostalgic musical moment for the best of the early Mariah years.  Let her heavenly voice and R&B beats take you back to a simpler time; a time before Touch My Body. Enjoy this selection of specially curated hits (read: only the ones I like best)...

Now your turn! What's your favorite Mariah song?
