{styling notes} 2 ways to wear a varsity jacket...

Listen, I'm already aware that this week's content is seemingly nothing but NYFW show coverage, and I know that not all of you like that. I'm sure it might even be especially dry because I'm barely attending any shows in person this season, and instead relying on good ol' style.com. For this reason, I've dug up a little blog project I was working on that I never quite got around to finishing, on ideas for styling a varsity jacket.

I picked up this gem on sale from Aritzia last month, and wore it everyday until it finally got a little too chilly, which it currently still is. Until a couple weeks ago though, I'd been having so much fun playing around with layering - going tomboy with plaid and loafers or - gasp - girly with a flirty skirt and faux fur. No really, behold:

TNA 'Spee' Varsity jacket / Urban Outfitters skirt (old) / Hue tights / Steve Madden booties / vintage belt / Ray-Ban shades / unknown faux-fur stole

Ta-da, a little more feminine than you're used to, eh? I feel like you've seen me in nothing but jeans since about October, but here I am in a shorty-short little skirt feeling like a high school cheerleader who hasn't quite let go of her glory days - and that's not a totally bad thing.

I think the key with making a varsity jacket work is to just have fun with it. Don't over think what it does and doesn't go with - because it doesn't really "go" with anything. Just note that it can give you a boxy shape, so baggier bottoms might not be the move.
