{outfit post} like a boss...

Vintage mink coat / Madewell chambray shirt / James Jeans "Twiggy" (c/o) / Ray-Ban aviators / Dolce Vita booties / In God We Trust bracelet / Madewell hat

The original title for this post was definitely "Big pimpin' in Little Italy." Wearing this vintage mink on my shoulders with this hat makes me feel a little like Indiana Jones' mob boss uncle. Sometimes when I'm walking down Mulberry Street, I like to imagine what it was like down here when Frank Sinatra and his pals would dine at these traditional old Little Italy establishments. Cigars, suits and probably some really good hats.

On a super-unrelated note... Someone once told me that if you love a piece of clothing - like a lot - buy it in more than one color. It's something I've never forgotten but rarely acted on. (I'm a girl on a budget, after all.) Recently though, when Madewell was having its blow-out sales before Christmas, I fulfilled this sartorial dream-come-true when I bought this darker chambray shirt, after buying the lighter wash version this summer.

  1. Love, love this outfit. Also, your hair looks great!

Ever since watching Boardwalk Empire, I want to wear a bowler hat everywhere but just don't know if its too "bloggery." Maybe I'll work up the guts...

  6. The multiple color shopping thingy is actually a killer way of shopping. If it fits like a glove, if you wear it all the time, just do it.

I'm sure Phoebe Philo does just that.

    And she is a goddess.

  8. Yes for fab hats! Still looking for my dream felt hat, but I did love my J.Crew chambray shirt so much that I went back and bought up their second option... no regrets here!
