{off to the races} we're going 'Hunt'-ing again...

On Saturday I'm off to Penn Station bright and early (champagne bottle in hand) for my second sojourn out to Far Hills, NJ for The Hunt. I had a ridiculously good time last season, so catch yourself up if you're unclear on just what The Hunt is. Last year I wore a pretty preppy combination of my olive green twill J Brand skinnies, a pink J. Crew button down-down, silk scarf and of course, my Bean boots.

This year, I... have no idea what I want to wear. It's one of those events where you want to look great, but like you didn't try at all - even though you really did. I am not adept at all at looking effortless, so I might as well come clean about that now. Whatever I wear, it's put together with purpose. So on that note, what will my purpose be this season for a day at the races?

I'm definitely having a moment for a more refined equestrian aesthetic, with preppy accents and a twist or two. Above would be my ideal look for the day, even though it's so muddy the whole thing would be destroyed in a matter of hours. (All off-white? Please.) In reality though, I'll be building from the ground up, with my bean boots and a TBD pair of skinnies (and a flask of bourbon, natch), and topping it all off with my favorite Indiana Jones hat that I first spotted when my friend Kate wore it to The Hunt last year.

Stay tuned to see how it all comes together...

  1. Oh, I love those boots you've picked out! This style is something I really miss about being able to wear in the English countryside... I don't think I could get away with Kate Middleson's look in this post in Los Angeles' West Side like I could back home!

  2. I love the whole equestrian thing - just something about the mix of leather ruggedness, but done in a super fem way that is just so appealing. Do you make it out to NJ often? Next time you're here, I'd love to meet up for drinks or coffee!
