mid-week music moment: Capital Cities covers Sinead O'Connor

This week's MWMM was a chance find on one of my favorite sites for finding new music, Hypem.com. I was browsing the "popular" tracks, and when I saw "Nothing Compares 2 U" I knew I had to listen immediately. This particular cover of that iconic Sinead O'Connor jam is by Capital Cities, a band I didn't really know much about. I still don't, except that I love this version. You hear me? L-O-V-E.

I know I'm not the ultimate taste-maker when it comes to music, but this is a pretty good find, no? It really makes the song feel a little less ache-y and a little more 80s / electro / I could maybe dance to this. What do you think? Share with me, I beg ya.

PS - Next week's MWMM is going to be a playlist (!!!) dedicated to the start of NYFW!

  3. Great music moment! Sinead's version was also a cover. The original was recorded in the 80s by a group called The Family (produced by Prince of course) which was the ultimate in ache-y. Here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8854IiDjlw - Enjoy!
