{outfit post} Cyril's last saturday...

Two weekends ago in The Hamptons, after beaching it most of the day and grilling out on the deck, we piled into a cab driven by a guy with a pirate flag flying proudly out his window and a disco ball spinning overhead. We jumped into the mix at Cyril's, a "fish bar" that becomes an all-out (and all outdoors) post-beach party. Negotiating your way to the bar is a task in-and-of itself, but the jostling and waiting are worth it for their famous blended 'BBC' drinks. I could go on and on about what a wild scene it is, but you really should experience it for yourself. Anyway, this is what I wore.

Zara top; J Brand shorts (c/o); Dolce Vita sandals (c/o); Roxy sunglasses; Links of London, Kenneth Jay Lane and Tiffany bracelets.

One thing I've realized in my very fortunate jaunts out to The Hamptons is that it's not quite the haven of elitist preppy snobs that I was expecting. To be sure they are out there - but in my experience (bunking up with 8 or 10 other 20-somethings in a house somewhere) is that most of the crowd where we hang out is a mixed bag of young people with all different types of style. At about 4 p.m. on Saturday, Cryil's becomes the place to be - and preppy or not - people are dressed to impress. I have never seen such cool, stylish beach cover-ups in my life, not to mention the best sunglasses spotting, maybe ever

So what does that mean for me? I ditched the notion of cuffed shorts and nautical everything (though I do love both those things dearly) and just wore what felt good. It's a beach town after all - and what's more beach-y than your favorite denim cutoffs and an eyelet blouse?

Also a quick note, re: these Dolce Vita sandals. Everyone has them, I know. But if you don't - you should consider it. I am a big DV fan, and these sandals are all I wanted them to be. So comfortable, no blisters, wear them all the time. I was really skeptical about the gold bar, but it holds your foot in place so you don't slide around. Seriously, even in neon pink these pups seem to go with everything (or at least that's what I tell myself). At under $70, they're a smart summer purchase in any shade (plus I think they come in like 10 different colors).

    1. Hi Melissa! So my polish is this neon-esque color from American Apparel, though I'm not sure what the name is. It's bright and fun! My other go-to right now is Essie "meet me at sunset" which is similar but more rich than it is bright. Thanks!
