power purchase: Madewell shift dress

You know that thing where you head out on a Sunday afternoon just to run a few quick errands and then three hours and three substantial shopping bags later you]'re walking home from lower 5th Avenue and not really sure what just happened?

Such was my life this past weekend - I arrived home not entirely sure of what awaited me as I unpacked my parcels. (In some circles we call this the ellusive "shopping black out.")

Once the dust settled, the piece I was particularly pleased to have splurged on is this Madewell shift. For some reason, the weight of the crepe fabric makes this boxy shape hang perfectly. I'm talking seriously flattering. As soon as I put it on I was already picturing it:
  • With a few buttons undone, some great jewels and my Kork-Ease wedges, it's party-perfect.
  • With flat sandals, a top knot and summer scarf it's a done deal for brunch.
  • In the fall over super-skinny jeans with ballet flats and a fitted blazer it's polished and comfortable for work.
I think this may be my ideal summer purchase, and I can't wait to style it up and obvi, take some Instagram mirror shots showing it off (ha).

  5. I saw this dress and immediately loved it but had to behave and not buy it because I have two Madewell dresses sitting in my closet with tags still on them, including a shift dress.
You made a fabulous purchase there!

  7. "Shopping black out". That's funny.. That happens to me a lot. Do they have rehab for that? I hope not. Anyhow, great dress and I really like how you gave options for how to wear it in the fall. Love it!
