Hammocks and lemonade. Salty hair and lawn games. These are the images I conjure up in my head when I dream about the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. I'm headed up to Long Island - the first time I've left New York City since January. (Can you believe that, by the way?)
I don't plan on doing much except hanging by the pool with a book, hanging on the beach with friends and dipping my toes in that (still frigid) Atlantic Ocean. There will of course be jaunts into town (Amagansett), so that requires a few packing necessities beyond a bikini and sunglasses.
As you well know if you read this blog often, I really like to get into character on vacation. The Hamptons calls for major East Coast prep pieces - from madras plaid to navy lace, a straw panama to Breton stripes and a few nautical accessories. I think white shorts will be the basic I build everything else around - perfect for town and for the beach.
I ordered the above double-sided towel from One Kings Lane on an impulse a couple weeks ago, and recently purchased that little navy shift as well. It's Juicy Couture, it's short and sassy, but it's also a bit demure and fits to a tee. (Perfect with flat sandals for cocktails on the lawn, no?) I also think it'll be perfect to have a printed scarf to tie around my head for beach days sans shower, as well as a Roxy bikini that's as cute as it is wave-proof.
I can't wait to get away, and I promise to take lots of great photos to share with you! Anyone else have a great weekend planned? I hope so :)
