mid-week music moment: The Apache Relay

The Apache Relay - Home is Not Places

Sometimes it really pays to know that girl who knows a guy in the band, you know? My friend Caitlin who lives in Nashville just happens to know a guy named Mike who happens to be in this wonderful up-and-coming band, The Apache Relay. They performed in a small showcase at Mercury Lounge last night, so I rallied the roommates and trotted up to Houston and Essex after work. It was an amazing show, and pretty fun to get to stand right up in the front row. We mingled with the band after, sipping on PBRs while I tried to convince them I could join and play the tambourine.

The band recently toured with Mumford & Sons, and when you hear their music you totally understand why. It's kind of a folksie mix of The Head & The Heart, Mumford and... Oh, I don't know, The Black Keys? Yes, I think so.

I love the above song, Home Is Not Places ("It is love!"), but I highly recommend checking out their whole debut album, American Nomad, on Grooveshark or Spotify or whatever you like! My other favorite song that you must check out is "Sets Me Free." Gems all over the place.

There you go - new music for everyone! You're welcome and enjoy!
