mid-week music moment...

Full disgretion: I love Gucci. Not the brand (though I love that, too, obvi) but the rapper, Gucci Mane. I was introduced to him last year (by some rap-loving white boys of course) and I've been a fan ever since. His song "Lemonade" made it onto majorly heavy rotation on my ipod this spring as well as my first tgif playlist. I will go even fuller disgretion and tell you that I used to listen to it very loudly, windows down, mid-day, while driving a yellow car (the whole song is about things Gucci likes that are yellow.) Embarrassing, right?

Anyway, I really enjoy him because:

a) He says "burrrr" and "Gucci!" about a million times per song.

b) His rhymes about drinking, hoes, party drugs, yachts and icey bling harken back to simpler days; like when Diddy was still Puff Daddy & the Family... featuring Mase.

d) He gets my faaavvvorite Pharell to sing the chorus on his latest song. Mmm, Pharell.

d) This song is called "Haterade." That's all.

So there you have it. The girl who thinks she's really cool listening to Fleet Foxes while riding the subway to Brooklyn and playing on her ipad also jams out hardcore to Gucci Mane in a yellow car. Now you know.
