what a hottie...

It seems that all I can think about these days is how hot it is, and how hard it is to figure out what to wear when it's this hot. As you may know, I went to school in Tucson, Arizona, where hot was the norm - all year long. However, in the desert and on a college campus, it's all sweat shorts, sorority tanks and Rainbow flip flops and no one cares. It was really a special day when I threw on a little dress for class.

In NYC, and pretty much any sophistcated or metropolitan place you might be right now, sweat shorts and cotton tees just don't feel right. They also don't breathe, and show just about everything you might be feeling underneath. I moved out here with a solid wardrobe, don't get me wrong, but it feels like I have nothing to wear that's appropriate right now! A situation (and a budget) like this requires a very serious round of shopping the closet. I like to round up a bunch of inspiring images of outfits and looks I want to emulate, then dive head-first into my rolling rack in the living room and see what I can attempt to recreate. And what better place to start than my favorite fellow fashion bloggers...

The Sartorialist - a breezy silk shirt with belted modest-length shorts look incredibly chic...

Sterling Style - a short and sweet (and nearly backless) floral dress...

What I Wore - a funky take on pattern mixing with the simple shorts + tank combo...

the glamourai - a homemade long silk dress and the right accessories create a prefctly breezy NYC outfit...
