notes from the weekend...

After my first full weekend in the city I'm sort of a wreck. But also so happy, and satisfied, and excited... but exhausted, dehydrated, hot, and my feet ache. What can I say, though? It's just part of the grind here. Having a really amazing weekend full of great drinks, wild bars, long walks and to-die-for shopping is hard work.

Friday afternoon Tully and I got a free slice of pizza two blocks from our apartment at Two Boots and then walked to Carl Schurz Park and along the water.

Then the night came...

Friday night Rachel, Hailey(Jamar), Megan Liza and I kicked off the night (around midnight) on the Lower East Side at a beer garden called Loreley for my friend Joey's going away party (he's moving back to seattle, ironically). After much dancing, mixing of friends, spotting of absolutely-just-as-good-looking-but-a-little-shorter-in-real-life Paul Rudd (!!), more dancing and more mixing, we frolicked over to Pianos briefly then danced til 4 am at La Caverna.

Our cab driver made a slight detour en route to the LES so I could see Times Square...

at La Caverna...

Saturday I schlepped all the way to Brooklyn (first time!) for brunch and World Cup soccer at a bar called Woodwork. It was a day of highs and lows, I would say. It was terribly, uncomfortably hot, humid and sweaty in the bar and there was no where to sit. We lost the game after 2 hours of said conditions. However, on our walk back to the subway, Duncan and I stumbled upon a large crowd of people doing the Electric Slide in Prospect Park (video in another post). So we of course had to stay and dance for a bit.

Cooling off at halftime...
