weekend essentials: San Francisco...

I always find that packing for a short trip is much, much more difficult than packing for a long one. Long trip = big bag. Short trip = carry on mini-bag. I'm off to San Francisco tomorrow for 6 days to meet up with more friends than I can shake a stick at, and it's going to be a whirlwind of activities. There will no doubt be lots of walking, so the Keds are a must. And because I have to pack light, I need to bring things that can be mixed and matched to create different, functional outfits everyday. So I figure my skinny jeans go with everything (ditto jorts), as does a classic white pocket tee. With a neutral open cardigan and statement necklace - tada - casual enough for romping around, and chic enough for a delicious lunch in the city. For nights out I can alternate jeans and a fun top with black heels, and a fun printed dress and the same heels. The fedora will be essential for mornings when a shower just isn't happening, and my Ecote surplus jacket will fight off the chilly Spring breeze. To top it all off, of course, the ubiquitous Ray Ban aviators.

  1. Thanks for writing about how daunting it is to pack - I always struggle whether a short weekend trip or a week away. With a curling iron, accessories and shoes to go along with all the outfits it's easy to overpack! PS, love, love, love that Kate Spade necklace!
