legs are the new black...

Per usual in the Emerald City, Spring and Winter have been flirting back and forth a lot lately. One day the temps will dip down towards 30 and we all bundle up and zip on our boots, and the next they soar to 62 and it's shorts and sandals everywhere you look.

I'm still holding out that it's too early for sandals until Spring officially arrives on March 20th. However, this past weekend, staring into my closet at my selection of constricting, concealing jeans, I said to myself, "I can't take it anymore. If I have to shove myself into one more skinny-jeans-socks-and-tall-boots outfit I'm going to scream!"

Well, I didn't scream, but I made a little "Rawwrrr!" noise, spun on my heel, grabbed my wallet and stormed out of the house. Fifty-five degrees be damned, my legs needed to see the light of day ... err ... the street lights of night. As pale as they are, I had to take them out on the town.

Flush with determination to find the perfect item to showcase my non-tan that night on Capitol Hill (they frown on being bronzed up there anyway); I ventured into a store that usually makes me shudder - Express. I had a weird sixth-sense moment that led me inside - and right to what I was looking for:

I know it doesn't look like much, but that's exactly the point. It's the perfect no-frills black mini skirt. It sits high on my waist and close to my non-hips, and is short, short, short. It doesn't have any exposed zippers or fancy detailing; it's just the right basic to mix with all my fun, blousy tops, excessive jewelry and colorful flats or chunky heels.

So get out there and show some leg!

*Oh and yes, I AM wearing that shirt here too. Why not, eh? I told you it was versitile...
