Oh Germany, stop clowning around & skate!

So here we have the German pair Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, skating at the Vancouver Olympics in the short program on Sunday night. Dressed like clowns, made-up like clowns, and skating to "Send in the Clowns." They skated quite well, but clearly, that's not the point. This is a style blog. Behold:

Now, me personally, I love everything about pairs figure skating. I love how nervous the commentators make me when they announce how difficult an upcoming element will be. I love when the skaters spin in perfect unison. I love when they fall and everyone in the audience gasps aloud, including me. I love when they skate a perfect routine and get a standing ovation and I start crying at the TV. I love when the scores are revealed (even though I really miss seeing each judge's marks). Most of all though, I love the outfits. If you ask me, the crazier, the better. Sequins, feathers, wild colors, sheer panels & arm wings all at once, please.

There were a lot of daring looks Monday night but, how do you feel about Aliona and Robin's harlequin romance? I think it might just be the most magically terrible-yet-amazing thing I've seen in the 2010 Olympics so far.
